Greenacre Park, NYC

Greenacrepark.org

We are thrilled to showcase our latest website redesign for Greenacre Park, an iconic pocket park in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. With its stunning waterfall, lush greenery, and intimate design, Greenacre Park has been a cherished urban retreat since 1971. As a National Register of Historic Places landmark, it was essential that the new website reflected its legacy while providing a seamless, modern user experience.

About Greenacre Park

Greenacre Park was a gift to New York City from Abby Rockefeller Mauzé, a devoted New Yorker who envisioned a tranquil escape amidst the city’s fast pace. She was inspired by the creation of Paley Park and founded the Greenacre Foundation in 1968 to develop a serene public space in Midtown, where parks were scarce.

Officially opened on October 14, 1971, Greenacre Park became a shining example of the pocket park movement, which transformed small urban lots into lush, intimate green spaces. Today, it remains a beloved sanctuary, owned and maintained by the Greenacre Foundation, which also champions efforts to protect sunlight and open spaces through its “Fight for Light” initiative.

Website Features & Design Approach

Our goal was to create a website that seamlessly blends timeless elegance with modern functionality, ensuring that visitors can easily access park information while appreciating its rich history.

  • Home: A welcoming page showcasing the park’s beauty with high-quality imagery and engaging content.
  • History: A deep dive into the park’s origins, the vision of Abby Rockefeller Mauzé, and its significance in the pocket park movement.
  • Visitor Info: Essential details, including hours, location, and guidelines for enjoying the park.
  • Design: Insights into the creative minds behind Greenacre Park’s thoughtful landscape architecture.
  • FAQ: Answers to common questions about visiting, park features, and more.
  • Photo Gallery: A visually rich section highlighting the park’s stunning waterfall, lush greenery, and peaceful seating areas.
  • Contact: Easy access to reach the Greenacre Foundation for inquiries.

The Impact

The redesigned website enhances Greenacre Park’s digital presence, making it easier for visitors to learn about the park, plan their visit, and appreciate its historical and architectural significance. By integrating modern design elements while honoring the park’s legacy, we’ve ensured that this hidden gem continues to inspire and attract visitors for years to come.
